My husband Emile and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the beautiful home you built for us in Midfield Estate. You have made our dream of a beautiful secure home come true.

Also we want to thank you for making the project enjoyable.  We had visions of it being very difficult due to our extreme busy lives (especially with Emile not being able to attend to the building matters), but you made the journey so much easier. We cannot say enough about all the positives you brought to the project.

• First of all your professionalism was outstanding in working with us as your client. Your project management methods and how you have facilitated each crisis or even those changes that I have initiated at a very late stage of some of the phases were done with stride and patience. Thank you so much for that.
• Your experience in the building profession was noted from the moment we began the building process. Even the fact that not once you hesitated to do the job yourself, from bricklaying right trough to my stunning kitchen cupboards has proofed that your work is of outstanding quality.
• Your almost daily communication with us on the progress of the project plus your insight as to what you felt was needed to be added or changed was remarkable. Furthermore, your understanding of why I couldn’t always talk to you (being in meetings almost most of my day) and then you just change the communication method and send me either an email or a sms.
• Equally impressive was not only your professionalism and timeliness but the professionalism and timeliness of your subcontractors.  In having done some alterations at our home previously, working with subcontractors can be very challenging.  Your working relationship with the subcontractors and their understanding of the quality you expect was very noticeable.
• From the day I have met you and you have ensured me that you are a builder that will go to heaven one day, I thought by myself: “yes sure, they all are saying that”.  After a period of 9 months I can personally vouch for that. You are a man with integrity, keeping to your promises, being honest at all times (even if it was sometimes detrimental for you or your business).
• After sales service: This was and is probably the best part of the whole journey. Our families grew close to one another, we became friends in this period and you are the one person that I will call anytime night or day whenever I have a “handy-man” problem. Even after we have moved in, thank you so much for assisting with small challenges and assisting us in making decisions and finding solutions. We just love our house and within weeks it became “home” to us.

We have said many times that we would highly recommend you to anyone who contacted us.  Not only would we but have already as in the last several weeks many of the neighbors have come through the house and asked about who the builder was as they have friends who are thinking about building or remodeling and we without hesitation recommend you at every turn.

How many of us can say, "My builder is my best friend!"...  After the house was built?  We both got Goosebumps when we first talked about my plans.  Not only was this an unusual project, but also the requirements were a first for both prospective homeowner and builder: I wanted a wheelchair friendly home; Johan was not quite sure what he was getting into, but was ready for the adventure!

As a first time homeowner and with all the enthusiasm in the world, there was no escaping the fact that I knew nothing about details of building projects.  Trust and good communication skills were all I could offer.   We got on like old friends at our first meeting  (in the Steyn’s home, which they built themselves – good way to see the finished product!). Plat-gat--down-to-earth conversation peppered with humour encouraged me.  Not too long after that I knew these folks were in my life for a very special reason:  By mutual agreement, the basis for our contract was that God be the senior partner in all proceedings. Thus whenever Johan pointed out hitches or challenges, I would refer him to our ‘senior’ partner’ for the answers!  Needless to say, we never argued and there was always a solution.

Both Johan and Poppie immediately, and consistently involved me as an integral part of the project.  I felt at ease to communicate any thoughts, ideas or even concerns, no matter how crazy they seemed. This was always regarded with love and total honesty.  We all knew exactly where we were every step of the way – both on paper and our relationship.  While the house construction took priority, JGS were directly instrumental in my budgeting process with materials as well as start-up costs and purchases.  Together, we ‘hit the streets’ for kitchen/laundry appliances, also the tiles for the entire home.  So clear were we that it was all done in one Saturday morning! How amazing is that!

I could go on and on (ad nausium) about how I feel about my experience of building my ‘miracle home’. Suffice to say: the Steyn’s and I took a great leap of faith together and were more than richly rewarded.  They went beyond the call of duty over and over again and my saying “Thank you” doesn’t even begin to cut it.  Perhaps the best way I can honour and applaud them is say to you, the prospective client of JGS,  “Come see, this magical haven we all created together!” You are welcome to visit by arrangement!
